Sample HVAC Design Package – See Exactly What a Completed Manual J, S & D Delivery Includes
Every ConsultAir HVAC design includes a full set of ACCA-compliant reports and drawings, covering everything from the initial load calculations to the final duct layout. To give you a real look at what that includes, we’re sharing the complete design package from an actual custom home project. All client and property information has been removed, but everything else in the package, including the calculations, equipment selection, and duct design, is exactly as it was delivered.
Zoning Plan
The zoning plan shows how the various spaces within a home are divided among the project’s HVAC systems, indicating exactly which rooms and areas each system is responsible for conditioning.
Duct Plan
This is the to-scale duct system plan that puts the Manual D calculations into drawing form, showing the installing contractor exactly where every duct, register, and piece of equipment goes.
Manual J Load Calculation
This is the starting point and foundation of the entire HVAC design. Manual J calculates the actual heating and cooling loads for the entire home as well as for every room, based on the home’s specific construction, insulation, window types, orientation, and local climate data, not a rule-of-thumb estimate. Every decision that follows, equipment size and duct design, is built on these numbers.
Manual S Equipment Sizing
This is the Manual S report, which confirms that the selected equipment’s rated capacity fits within the heat loads calculated by Manual J.
Manual D Duct Design
Manual D determines how conditioned air actually gets delivered to every room, calculating the correct duct sizes, static pressure, and airflow needed so each room gets the amount of heating and cooling it was designed for.

One more thing worth knowing: your finished design package is worth keeping. File it with your other home records; it’s useful for future remodels and duct work, and at resale, it’s real evidence your system was professionally sized rather than installed by rule of thumb.
